Located on the easternmost tip of the peninsula in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, Cancun is a tourist destination attracting millions of visitors every year.
Weather
Cancun’s climate is tropical and humid with year-round sunshine. The temperature ranges from 75° to 91° F (22° to 33° C) from April to September. Check the upcoming forecast for more up-to-date weather information.
Local transportation
The resort is centrally located on the Cancun resort strip. Bus transportation, taxis, shuttle and car rental services are available. A list of regular taxi fares can be obtained from the concierge. Airport transfers will be arranged for you. Transportation to any programmed off-site activities will also be arranged for you.
Currency
The official currency in Cancun is the Mexican peso, but American dollars and credit cards are also widely accepted. There is a currency exchange office in the resort.
Language
The official language spoken in Cancun is Spanish, but hotel staff and many in the Cancun tourism industry speak English.
Airport
The resort is approximately 11 miles from the Cancun International Airport. Transfers to and from the resort and the airport will be arranged for you unless you are extending your stay pre- or post-event.
Departure taxes: If you see a code ‘XD’ on the fare calculation line of your Cancun airline ticket, you do not have to pay a departure tax upon leaving Cancun. If you do not see that code, expect to pay approximately $25 (cash only) in departure taxes at the airport upon departing Cancun. Amadeus will reimburse you for this expense.
